Prof. Luo is currently a distinguished professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University. He is also currently served as President of Robotics Society of Taiwan, and President of Taiwan Hakka Forum Association. Prof. Luo has made research contributions in Sensor-controlled Intelligent Robot system; Multisensor Fusion and Integration for Intelligent Systems; Visual Servo Feedback Control Systems; Intelligent Mechatronics Systems; Micro and Nanotechnologies; Rapid Prototyping and Advanced Automation Systems. He is also a Co Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics.
Prof. Ren C. Luo (M’82 – SM’87 – F’92)-- Prof. Luo was a Research Engineer at Waldrich Siegen GmbH in Germany, and was a Scientific Research Staff at Fraunhofer Institute for Production and Design in Berlin, Germany. With Diplom Ingineure in Germany, he was a Scientific Research Staff in the Institute for Measurement and Control Engineering in Berlin and contributed on design of various sensors integrated control systems. Prof. Luo received his Ph.D from the Technische Universitaet Berlin, Berlin, Germany. He was an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in University of Illinois at Chicago and contributed on teaching and research in the area of sensor based robots and flexible automation. He later joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a Professor and the founding Director of the University of North Carolina System’s Center for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Prof. Luo was a Toshiba Chair Professor of Electrical Engineering in the Institute of Industrial Science at University of Tokyo, Japan. He has served as Dean of College of Engineering for 6 years at National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan. He became President of National Chung Cheng University since 2001 and completed his two terms presidency by 2007. Prof. Luo has made research contributions in Sensor-controlled Intelligent Robot system; Multisensor Fusion and Integration for Intelligent Systems; Visual Servo Feedback Control Systems; Intelligent Mechatronics Systems; Micro and Nanotechnologies; Rapid Prototyping and Advanced Automation Systems. Prof. Luo has published more than 300 refereed papers and a number of patents from USA and Taiwan.
