  • Coordinator of the strategic domain “Embedded Systems” of the French Aerospace valley competitiveness cluster (2007-2010)
  • Adjunct director of the French research network on “Sciences and Technologies for Aeronautics and Space”. (2007-current).
  • Head of the "Robotics and AI" research group (50 persons) at LAAS (March 2000-March 2006).
  • Co-chair of the CNRS National Pluridisciplinary Network "Autonomous and Communicating Robots" (Jan. 2003-Jan. 2004).
  • Chair of the French National Committee of Scientific Research Section on computer and control sciences (October 1997 -July 2000).

Research

  • Research work encompasses several aspects of autonomous and interactive robotics: navigation, mapping and localization, SLAM, perception, motion planning and control, robot control architectures, task planning and supervision, human-robot interaction, robot learning, and cognitive architectures.
  • Applications in field and service robotics, space robotics, aerial robotics, cognitive robotics. Author of over 150 international publications on these topics.
