2012 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM 2012)

The 2012 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM 2012) will be held on July 11-14, 2012 at Ambassador Hotel in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM) is an offspring of the flagship Mechatronics journal, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, inaugurated in 1997.

The purpose of AIM 2012, following the footsteps of the previous editions, is to promote activities in various areas of mechatronics by providing a forum for exchange of ideas, presentation of technical achievements and discussion of future directions. The AIM brings together an international community of experts to discuss the state-of-the-art, new research results, perspectives of future developments, and innovative applications relevant to mechatronics, robotics, control, automation, and related areas. The co-sponsoring of AIM by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and the ASME Dynamic Systems and Control pision makes it a truly interdisciplinary and international conference and the leading event in the field. AIM 2012 offers a large variety of paper and presentations describing original work on abstractions, algorithms, theories, methodologies, and case studies in the area of mechatronics.

AIM 2012 had 305 papers submitted from more than 31 countries. We will have193 papers for oralpresentation and discussions at the conference after first going through a rigorous review process, then by second going through a quality control process conductedat the Program Committee (PC) meeting in April 2012.The Technical Program ofAIM 2012 consists of Keynote Address, Plenary Talks, Workshop, Technical Tour,Panel Forum on “The Era of Cloud Computing and Service Innovation:The Implication and Perspectives of Intelligent Mechatronics”, and 37TechnicalSessions in 5 tracks. We are very grateful to the entire organizing committee, the technical program committee, the reviewers and the local staff and student volunteers for their dedication and effort for AIM 2012. The man-years of work by these volunteers help make AIM 2012 a memorable scientific and social event. We hope you will enjoy the conference, participate in many stimulating discussions, strengthen your existing contacts and establish new ones. Welcome and enjoy your stay in Kaohsiung City and Taiwan!
